Ellen completed her PhD in Sociology at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and is now an Assistant Professor of Sociology at University of Hawai’i at Hilo. She researches how people in creative industries, specifically the culinary industry, perceive success, averageness, and failure. Ellen learned everything she knows about audio production from her years DJing on KTUH 90.1FM- UH Manoa’s very own radio station- and around Honolulu. When she’s not working on The Social Breakdown or gazing like a zombie into her computer screen, Ellen rides bikes, hangs out with her pups Rydah Girl and Gertrude Stein, and cooks.
